We made it! the Boon sailed smoothly over the Pyrenees and landed safely in Barcelona. Here are some pictures of our treacherous journey.
WE"RE GOING TO crawl over the mountains to BARCELONA FOR the FIRST BOONRIG EXHIBITION> thanks for having us France
En route to visit Nettle's Great Uncle near Toulouse we stopped in the beautiful town of Cahors. Nestled in a U-bend in the River Lot, Cahors is full of wonky old buildings and Brocantes, which we had time to explore. It was also the first really hot day as we moved further south yippee!
We stayed in Les Sables for 1 month, parked in a camping car parking in the town and then right on the plage de la paracou, both for free - the town is probably chocker block in summer months so this would be impossible! George got some gnarly waves and we both cracked on with painting. We also saw an exhibition of Victor Brauner which was cracking, ate much too much chocolate at easter and hung out with a bonkers irish musician and his son.
The need to surf brought us to l'Aire de la tete de chien, sleepy french woods a short distance from the beach of Sauveterre, bliss, until we discovered we could go one further and actually live on the beach! This town will be heaving in a month or two so we have been lucky to arrive now and have all the best spots to ourselves..
We parked for our first two weeks in France at this beautiful old cheese factory. Owners Damien (who collects and sells all sorts of magical indian artefacts, which surrounded us in the courtyard of the factory) and sculptor Antione, are turning it into workshops, showrooms and living space with the help of the wonderful Caroline. We spent our time painting, drawing and printing in complete peace here and will be returning on our way back to England to check on their progress!
Brighton, parked up by the racecourse and then on the seafront, beautiful weather and the start of some paintings!
